Milton Freedman often used the post office as the symbol of inefficiency ,the government cannot deliver the mail and you expect it to provide and regulate ? the post office never paid back its lows and it just kept borrowing just like anything the government owns , it does not produce wealth it just consumes it , so why are we still having this soviet style entity ? the answer is very simple VOTES , the Post Office employes over 300 thousand people and they vote .The U.S. Postal Service has become the poster boy for government inefficiency in general.
