ReplyDeleteThough my ancestors have been in North America since the English colonies were founded here, on my father's side of the family my great, great, great, great grandfather came here from Canada. I would not hesitate to go to Canada, and in fact may do so if the ridiculous US immigration laws keep my fiance from the Philippines out of the US.
I would be ok with going to Canada, or the Philippines, or even to teach English in China or Singapore.
you guys are amazing , you think Canada is a no man's land welcoming anybody who wants to come ? you think your philipino fiancee will be welcomed in Canada ? you are dreaming , i know Canadians who were married to philipinoes and had to wait up tp four years to get her in the country after having filled out tons of application forms etc...Canada is a socialist country with a huge bureacratic infernal machine , there are no jobs in Canada half the population is on welfare , the only jobs are "government" jobs practically fat ass empty heads bureaucrats who know how to move a mouse and type on a keyboard and who spend their days between one cigarette break and one coffee break killing the time , the minimum wage in Canada is 6 Canadian dollars where a bus ticket costs 3 dollars ...people on welfare sometimes do have to do obligatory 70 hours volunteer job with 0 dollars retribution...you think China has low wages , in Canada many work for no wages ...I am amazed and pissed when I hear smart people like Peter Schiff and Gerald Celente speaking about Canada as if it is a dreamland , obviously they have never lived there , had they lived there even for a short time they will change their opinion 180 degrees
ReplyDelete"6 Canadian dollars," Where in Canada do you live ? I suggest you try Alberta. I know many (including myself) making 6 figures per year with an education "being optional." Tim Horton employee's making coffee are payed 12hr or more here. I know a philipino nanny that just arrived here. She was making "about" $300 canadian dollars per month while working as a nanny in china. How does manufacturing in North America compete with a populace that is willing to work for $300 per month ? To say the least, we live in interesting times !
ReplyDeleteI know that Alberta pays a lot more than the average Canadian province , but why do not you mention how much the cost of living is in that province , tell us also how much is the cost of rents and why many workers prefer to live in their car in a -40 degree Celsius rather than psay the rent ....this not to mention that the rush for sand oil is almost over , so Alberta is left with an environmental disastrous situation and nothing else...Yeah Fort Mc Murray baby...
ReplyDeleteYes the cost of living in alberta is higher, but so are the average incomes. I guess I didn't mention it because it hasn't been that big of an issue. IF you go to rbc's site and read the housing affordability tables that are in their economics section, you'll find that alberta is actually more affordable than many provinces when incomes are factored in. I don't know anyone living in a car in -40, but if there is I suspect they didn't plan their trip very well. With conventional oil reserves declining, long term demand increasing, and no major oil finds world wide since the 1960s I suspect Fort McMurray has a bright future.
